Job: Intern/GA Athletic Trainer
East Texas Baptist University, a private, Christian university located in Marshall, TX, is accepting applications for the unique role of either Intern Athletic Trainer or Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and career needs/goals. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside an experienced staff of 5 fulltime athletic trainers. ETBU is an NCAA Division III institution holding conference membership in the American Southwest Conference (ASC). This position is ideally suited for a newly licensed Texas athletic trainer looking to gain some independent, yet supported, work experience while obtaining an affordable, on-line Masters degree, if desired. A Masters degree at ETBU can be obtained/completed over either a 1- or 2-year period, depending on the degree path one chooses. A 1-year degree plan will be discounted at 50%, while a 2-year degree plan will be discounted 100%.
Interested candidates recently graduating from a CAATE-accredited program with a Masters Degree would be considered for the role of Intern Athletic Trainer.
The candidate is directly accountable to the Head Athletic Trainer and is responsible for carrying out responsibilities related to the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries. The candidate will be expected to develop and implement therapeutic exercise programs, maintain thorough medical records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA, and supervise clinical undergraduate athletic training students.
Athletic Trainers are expected to adhere to both Texas and/or NATA laws of practice related to Athletic Training. Sport assignments will include Men’s Soccer in the Fall and Acrobatics&Tumbling in the Spring.
ETBU will pay for all expenses related to continuing education, state and national membership and license renewal, etc…
Salary: $30,000 for 10-month commitment (Aug1-May31)
1) Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer OR Graduate of CAATE-accredited program;
2) BOC Certified preferred, but not required;
3) Eligible for State of Texas Licensure if not already a Texas LAT;
4) CPR/AED Certified (re-certification training will occur in August)
