Job Description – Head Athletic Trainer / Football
Coordinates athletic training services and facilities. Provide prevention, assessment, emergency care, therapeutic intervention, and administration of athletic injuries and illnesses. Supervises graduate assistant athletic trainers. Preceptor for athletic training students. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA). Work hours as requirements indicate. Tarleton State University participates in the NCAA D1 and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
90% – Primary sport assignment (Head Athletic Trainer-Football) / Secondary sport(s) assignment
10% – Administrative duties (Potential to evolve to Athletic Administrative role)
Injury and illness prevention.
Examination, assessment, and diagnosis.
Immediate and emergency care.
Health care administration.
Game and practice coverage.
Supervision of GA athletic trainers.
Preceptor for MSAT students.
Other duties as assigned (COVID, insurance, drug testing, etc.)
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or related field.
2 years experience in athletic training.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively.
General knowledge of NCAA rules.
Oral and written communication skills.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses
Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), eligible
Board Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
Health Care Provider CPR
3-5 years experience in athletic training.
Collegiate athletic training experience.
Experience with CAATE athletic training programs.
