Contract Athletic Trainer & Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Assistant Job Description
Lubbock Sports Medicine is actively seeking to fulfill a dual role position of Assistant DME Coordinator and PRN/Contract Athletic Trainer within our organization. The ideal candidate would serve in office within our bracing department and in our community working with local student-athletes/athletes in multiple sport settings across the South Plains.
DME ASSISTANT
- Experience with DME is preferred
- Knowledge of DME CPT coding and billing.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to accurately complete documentation for billing purposes.
- Knowledge of DME bracing and function of units.
- Skill in fitting patients properly and to educate/teach patients as to appropriate usage of equipment.
- Ability to position patients as required.
- Ability to create, understand and modify financial and inventory reports.
- Ability to understand DME billing, insurance benefits and procedures and assist in claims resolution.
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices
OUTREACH/CONTRACT ATHLETIC TRAINER -PRN
- Coordinate and provide coverage for outside events on behalf of Lubbock Sports Medicine and contracted affiliates.
- Assist in the assessment and treatment of sports-related injuries at events designated by Lubbock Sports Medicine.
- Provide sports injury assessment at events, and on-site care of acute athletic injuries, such as immediate first aid and evaluation of injury status; refer athletes requiring additional medical or health care services to the appropriate resources for such care (for example, the athlete’s primary care physician or nearest hospital)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in an athletic training program or related field
- Active Texas Athletic Training Licensure via the Texas Department of of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
- CPR – BLS Certification
- CPR/First Aid Instructor preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred
- Board of Certification (National Athletic Trainer’s Association-BOC) preferred
