Campus Assignment
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities, including distance learning or virtual instruction.
Responsible for treating the district’s athletes both on a preventive and follow-up basis. Responsible for contributing to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of each student.
Educational Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s Degree
 Valid Texas Teacher certificate (preferred but not required)
 Valid Texas Athletic Certificate
 General knowledge of training techniques and procedures
 Knowledge of University interscholastic League (UIL) rules
 Athletic training experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Supervises records of athletes (does not include cheerleaders or drill teams) including physicals, insurance, Emergency release, UIL, UISD handbook, hazing policy, steroid policy, birth certificate, drug form, and other pertinent medical information.
2. Supervises dressing rooms, showers, training rooms for cleanliness and hygiene.
3. Is present at:
a. All varsity football games (home and away)
b. All sub-varsity football games that are in Laredo (out of town optional) as instructed by campus
c. All HOME volleyball games and local tourneys. (out of town optional)
d. All cross country meets that are in Laredo. (high school and middle school) (out of town optional)
e. All HOME basketball games and local tourneys. (out of town optional)
f. All HOME soccer games and local tourneys. (out of town optional)
g. All HOME site tennis matches. (high school and middle school) (out of town optional)
h. All HOME softball games and local tourneys. (out of town optional)
I. All HOME baseball games and local tourneys. (out of town optional)
j. All HOME and local high school and middle school track meets. (out of town optional)
k. All HOME middle school 7th and 8th grade football games.
l. Attend all varsity and sub-varsity football practices.
m. Attend Special Olympics track meets and Bowling meet.
n. If conflict between sporting events should arise, the ATHLETIC TRAINER will choose the event where
injuries will most likely occur.
o. One trainer will be on campus daily until 6:00 pm then on call for all other events, as directed by
Campus Coordinator.
p. If no trainer is available for out of town or local games, one UISD trainer will travel with the team, rule
of thumb-no event goes uncovered by at least one trainer.
q. Trainer can only see ATHLETIC/SCHOOL related injuries due to liability. Can see non-school related
injuries with doctor note.
4. Maintains inventory on training supplies.
5. Develops a training program utilizing coaches, managers and student trainers.
6. Be available to treat athletes during athletic periods; before and after school if necessary.
(Treatment times up to the Athletic Trainer at each school)
7. Keep abreast of new training techniques, supplies, equipment and etc.
8. Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilities, as it pertains to all UISD facilities.
9. Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules as it relates to athletic training.
10. Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
11. Cooperate with other members of the school staff in planning and implementing instructional goals and objectives for the overall educational development of student athletes.
12. Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
14. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and the local board policy in area of athletics.
15. Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
16. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
17. Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
18. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
19. Instruct and advise student trainers with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
20. Encourage by example, and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
21. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with student athletes and their parents.
22. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
23. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
24. Is responsible for assisting with the insurance program covering athletes, and claims to Risk Management.
25. Encourages athletes to participate in the total program and help them to develop pride and to excel in the sport(s) of their choice.
26. Visits weekly and attends to needs of feeder middle school athletes.
27. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job responsibility unless instructed to work from home by supervisor.
28. Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Distance Learning and Virtual Instruction Duties and Responsibilities
In the event of a school closure in response to a disaster, flood, extreme weather condition, fuel curtailment, epidemic, pandemic or other calamity, the following duties and responsibilities will be added to the above listed Major Job Responsibilities and Duties, as directed by the Superintendent.
29. Develop and implement lesson plans through distance or virtual learning to fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation, as required. Prepare lessons in instructional formats that accommodate differences in individual student needs.
30. Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for distance or virtual learning that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
31. Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular business hours to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. The rest of the workday is committed to planning, preparing,
implementing, and evaluating lessons and activities.
32. Communicate with students or parents as directed by campus administration.
33. Provide ongoing feedback of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
34. Create a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social, and
emotional development of students.
35. Usage of personal equipment, including but not limited to personal cellular phone, personal computer
computers, and personal internet service when working from home during a District closure due to government or Board order or during an emergency affecting normal District operations.
36. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives.
Working Conditions:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress. Some bending, lifting and stooping while performing job related functions. Exposure to heat, cold and dusty working conditions. Occasional district and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer; use of and access to phone system; video/instructional equipment; and peripherals

Minimum Salary: Teacher Pay Schedule
Stipend: $10,000
Minimum Work Days: 187 + 25 Additional Days
