Responsible for the design and implementation of the training program for all boys and girls sports in the athletic department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Must have valid accreditation as an LAT
Bachelor’s degree
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Plan and implement a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student-athletes.
- Attend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned by the athletic director.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical and paramedical personnel, coaches, and other staff.
- Fit injured athletes with specialized equipment and oversee its use.
- Prepare athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations, using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as needed.
- Respond to emergencies and make quick, independent judgments about how to deal with injuries.
- Identify injuries and provide first-aid where applicable.
- Make the call on continued participation, further evaluation or whether to seek next level medical attention for injuries sustained during activities and games.
- Establish specific procedures to be carried out by a coach or student trainer in the event of a medical emergency.
- Make selections on student assistants. Train and supervise your group of assistants.
- Set rehab schedule and protocols for injured athletes.
- Set open training room schedule for reporting of injuries and before/after school treatments.
- Organize all school related medical record keeping for student athletes.
- Inventory management, supplies ordering and maintenance of training modalities and supplies.
- Communicate with AD, Coaches and parents routinely on athlete injury status.
- Other duties as assigned.
