Location:  Medical Arts and Research Building, surrounding hospitals, 8300 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio TX 78229

Position Purpose: To assist Dr. Bartush with all aspects of care including evaluating patients in the clinic setting, scrubbing in the OR, facilitating pre and post-operative care, and providing access for local sports teams to UTHealth Sports Medicine.

Essential Functions:  Facilitate seeing patient in clinic with activities to include:

  • suture removal
  • fitting of durable medical equipment
  • dictation/documentation in the medial record
  • peer to peer phone calls, scheduling, drawing up injections
  • answering medically-related questions from patients, pharmacies, parents, and coaches and local ATCs

Facilitate OR cases with activities to include:

  • Pre-operative patient optimization
  • Intra-operative prepping, draping, suturing, graft prep, graft passage, suturing, and splinting

Qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree, Licensed ATC by Texas Department of Health

  • Must have or obtain the MBCOT OTC certification*
  • Basic principles of athletic training, kinesiology, & first aid
  • General principles of supervision and training
  • Interpersonal skills including courteous, timely communication
  • Composure under pressure
  • Willingness to learn medical record keeping
  • Willingness to learn basic suturing, splinting, and graft preparation

Time Requirements:  8a-5p M/W/F, 7-4 T/Th
