High School Athletic Training Internship Job Description


The purpose of this Internship is to offer schools an athletic trainer to help with coverage for their respective organization.  While also offering graduating MAT students, and other young certified/licensed professional, a transition to practice experience to further their education and skills. These internship positions will be done in a partnership with Baylor Scott and White-Southwest Sports Medicine and Orthoapedics and SportsCare USA, Inc.


The selected candidates will serve as an Athletic Trainer for their assigned school, and coordinate the day-to-day aspects of an athletic training program.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:  prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries/illnesses to student athletes.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating the daily healthcare of student athletes; maintain and recording appropriate medical records for student athletes; administrative management of the athletic training program; and other duties assigned by the Internship Director or Athletic Director.


Minimum Degrees/Certifications/Licensure:  Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training.  BOC Certification and Texas State Licensure (or eligible).  Current CPR Certification. Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum Skills/Qualifications:  Strong effective oral and written communication skills. Adaptable with strong time management skills and attention to detail.  Appropriate training with requirements of healthcare providers (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.) Experienced in medical documentation and EMR.  Ability to work well within a sports medicine team.  Proven ethical behavior.

Hired candidates will need to submit to a background/fingerprint check and there may be additional requirements as well (drug screen, COVID-19 information, etc.)


$30,100 annual stipend

These are part-time positions and will consist of 28-hours per week of coverage at their respective school.  Positions will be open until filled.  This is an annual position with a start date of:  July 20th, 2022
