Job Title: Athletic Trainer (Clinical outreach)

Reports to: Director of Sports Medicine Outreach

FLSA: Exempt

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine Outreach (DSMO), Physicians, and Physical Therapist the AT will work 50/50 providing assistance to the Physical Therapist in an orthopedic outpatient clinic and outreach to area high school athletic departments.  Weekly school visits for injury evaluation, Friday night football coverage, some varsity tournaments, relationship building with local schools, relationship building with physicians, expedite appointments and full up, coordinate contract PRN staff for additional coverage. The AT will project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of patients, coworkers, and Baylor Scott & White Texas Spine & Joint Hospital Tyler as appropriate. The AT will work under stress and in situations that demand patience and tact while providing impeccable service.

Physical Requirements:

The AT may be expected to lift up to 25 pounds or up to 50 pounds with assistance, and may be expected to push or pull 500 pounds with assistance. Work is of high demand: sitting, walking and standing most of the time while on duty.  Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required:  optimal auditory acuity required; manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and computers is essential to performing assigned duties.  Physical conditions are often subject to weather and may include mud, rain, cold, heat, or other uncomfortable conditions. The AT may be subjected to stressful situations.  Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Ability:

  • Demonstrated eligibility for employment in the United States
  • Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer
  • BLS must be current and maintained while employed
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective use of chemicals, cleaning agents and safety instructions.
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements.

Salary will be based off of experience. Benefits include health, 401K, and CEU. All work related travel is reimbursed according to the Federal IRS mileage recommendation.
