Athletic trainer in need of blood donations
Thanks to the NATA and South Texas Blood and Tissue hosting a blood drive at the NATA annual meeting and symposium in San Antonio, Eddie Mizicko has been receiving the blood credits necessary for the units he has used. There is still a need for blood to be given in the name of Eddie Mizicko or the NATA. If you are in the San Antonio area please visit a South Texas Blood and Tissue donation center and make a donation! Be sure to let the center know that you are donating in the name of the NATA or Eddie Mizicko. With out blood in the NATA or Eddie's name Eddie's family will be responsible for the cost of each unit of blood used. On June 5, 2009, Eddie had a kidney transplant at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio. He was initially doing great but has developed complications related to his diabetes as well as an infection. Eddie is a long time member of the NATA, SWATA, and is serving as the Regional Director on the TSATA Board of Directors representing the San Antonio and Austin region. His Family has asked for this request, mentioning the greatest need is for A negative blood, however any donation made in Eddie’s name or the NATA will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully give a pint of blood in Eddie’s name. Please keep Eddie and the Mizicko family in your thoughts and prayers.

HB 3 was signed by the Governor on June 19th. The bill revises the recommended and advanced high school programs to include the “4x4” requirements. To allow for the additional elective credits, the legislation eliminates some required credits in the areas of health, physical education, speech and technology applications. The final version requires one credit of fine arts and one credit of physical education under the recommended plan. To view the text of this bill, CLICK HERE >>>, refer to page 30-32.
