Assistant Athletic Trainer – Grand Prairie High School


Primary Purpose:

Assist Head Athletic Trainer & Assistant Athletic Trainer with care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid license from Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • TSATA Sports Medicine Instructor Certification
  • Valid NATA Certification preferred
  • CPR/AED Certified – Instructor certification preferred



  • Teach Sports Medicine I at GPHS in sports medicine pathway
  • Provide healthcare for team practices, games and rehabilitation sessions.
  • Day to day athletic training room duties
  • Assist with recruitment and supervision of student aides
  • Support and assist the administration in implementing all policies governing student-athletes and conduct.
  • Stay current on trends, methods and techniques of athletic medicine to provide best possible care for student-athletes.
  • Maintain records of athletic physicals, medical records, and insurance records on each athlete.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings
  • Serve with current staff as Clinical Instructor for local university students
  • Other duties as assigned


Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Frequent district-wide and DFW area travel
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
  • Outdoor exposure to sun and heat, wind and cold
  • Moderate to heavy lifting



Wage/Hour Status:  Exempt

Pay Grade:  Teacher Scale + Stipend + Days
