Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer, full time

Location: Crandall ISD, Crandall, TX

Reports to: Athletic Director, Principal

Job Description

Individual duties will consist of but are not limited to:

  •  Day to day operations of athletic training room
  •  Coverage of all boys and girls practices/games (7th-12th grade)
  •  Evaluation, rehabilitation, prevention of athletic injuries and physician referral when necessary
  •  Develop and implement therapeutic exercise protocols
  •  Organize and lead athletic training students in Sports Medicine program
  •  Maintain inventory of athletic training supplies and requisition additional supplies
  •  Record keeping of all athletic injuries, doctor’s notes, rehab sheets, etc.
  •  Help coordinate and organize annual physical exams
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Principal

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  •  Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm manner
  •  Ability to maintain a clean, organized athletic training room
  •  Knowledge of therapeutic modalities (e-stim, ultrasound, whirlpool) and appropriate applications
  •  Ability to work as an individual with leadership qualities to instruct/supervise athletes and athletic training student aids
  •  Strong communication/interpersonal skills with athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, physicians, etc.
  •  Experience with Rank One software
  •  Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, Forms

Physical Demands/Environment Factors:

  •  Work outside: heat, humidity, cold, wind, rain
  •  Frequent, irregular, prolonged hours
  •  Moderate lifting (coolers/equipment)
  •  Traveling to away games

Required Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college/university
  •  Valid Texas Athletic Training License (LAT) from Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  •  Valid CPR/First Aid Certification (Red Cross or AHA)
  • Texas Teaching Certificate
  •  Valid driver’s license

Desirable Qualifications:

  • TSATA Sports Medicine Instructor Certification
  • CPR Instructor Certification
  • NATABOC Athletic Training Certification (ATC)

Salary:

  • Crandall ISD base teacher salary + athletic trainer stipend + 10 days
  • CISD will assist with the cost of CEUs, classes, symposiums, clinics, conventions, etc. when approved ahead of time to help maintain licenses and certifications.
