Nancy Vanley
El Paso

Nancy Cervantes Vanley is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. She has worked for the Ysleta Independent School District at Bel Air High School since August 2000. She is also co-sponsor of Fellowship of Christian Athletes on her campus, Sunday School Teacher at McComb's Baptist Church, and President of Sun City Athletic Trainers Association.

Bill "Hondo" Schneider

William “Hondo” Schneider graduated, of course, from Hondo High School, well as Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health in 1982 and a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine in 1985.
Hondo has served as athletic trainer for the San Francisco 49ers, the USFL Houston Gamblers, Howard Payne University, and Copperas Cove High School. He has been with the Midland Independent School for 17 years, first with Midland Lee High School and currently serving as a staff athletic trainer at Midland Senior High School.
He also serves on the UIL Medical Advisory Committee and is the TSATA’s UIL committee chairman as well as the liaison to the UIL.
Hondo is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association, Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as the United States Golf Association, The United States Team Roping Championships, and is on the Board of Directors of the Sandhills Stockshow and Rodeo in Odessa, Texas.
His bride’s name is Marla. They have two children – a daughter Jessica, 19, a pre-med major attending Texas Tech University, and a son Brandt, 10.

Robert Ramos

Robert is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and currently works as Head Trainer and Sports Medicine Director at Lubbock Estacado High School.
Robert is a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer and has worked in the clinical and high school setting for the past 36 years. He is a member of the Texas Society of Sports Medicine.
Robert is the recipient of several awards including: The Everett Blackburn Memorial Award, Ken Locker Speaker Award, Athletic Trainer of the Year Award for the Lubbock Independent School District and recently the prestigious John Harvey Humanitarian Award.
He was honored and served as the north All Star Basketball and Football Trainer by THSCA.
He and Carolyn have been married for 31 years and has 3 children and 9 grandchildren.

Mike Carroll

Mike Carroll has been the head athletic trainer at Stephenville ISD since the fall of 2003. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1990 and his Master of Education from the University of Virginia in 1992. As a state licensed and nationally certified athletic trainer he is in charge of all facets of athletic health care in Stephenville ISD. Mike is also very active in his professional organizations as well. Mike was awarded the Eddie Wojecki and Bobby Gunn Unsung Hero Awards in 2005 by the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association for his work with the Secondary School Athletic Trainers’ Committee. He is the chairman of the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association Secondary School Athletic Trainer committee as well as being a member of several National Athletic Trainers’ Association committees. He also has spoken on a variety of topics at clinics throughout the state. He has previously worked as an athletic trainer in Georgetown ISD, Sweeny ISD, Ft. Bend ISD, and Waller ISD. Mike is married to the former DeNae Allie, who is a teacher’s aide at Central Elementary in Stephenville ISD. Mike and DeNae have a son (Nolan age 6) and a daughter (DeLaney) age 2 and when they have free time, they enjoy going camping.

Dan Fuller, Vice Chair

Dan Fuller is the Head Athletic Trainer/Sports Medicine Coordinator for Azalea Orthopedics in Tyler Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1993 and his Master of Education Degree from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2006.
Dan is a Texas Licensed and Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer. He has been working professionally since 1993 and has worked in the clinical and Professional Sports settings.
Dan is starting his second term as the Region 5 Director for TSATA. He is the Chairman for the Membership Task Force and looks foreword to helping the TSATA in any way possible.
Dan is a founding member of the East Texas Athletic Trainers Association. He has maintained an Executive position with the organization since the inception in 1996

Cathy is a native of Hondo, Texas, graduated from Austin Westlake High School and (Southwest) Texas State University in San Marcos where she earned a degree in Athletic Training. She is a Texas Licensed and Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer with twenty-three years experience that began with her career at La Porte High School, in 1992 she moved to Clear Brook High School as an outreach AT with Christus St. John Sports Medicine Center. Along with her full time position, Cathy also volunteers with local organizations including the Justin Sports Medicine Team at the Houston Rodeo.
Cathy has been active in all levels of the Athletic Training professional associations. She is a past president of the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society (GHATS), and served on several SWATA committees, including Chair of the Women in Athletic Training Committee. She was on the founding committee of the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association and also as the first chair of the Governmental Affairs committee.
Among her many accomplishments, Cathy was the recipient of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Service Award, GHATS Bobby Gunn Award, and American Red Cross Certificate of Merit, and has been honored as a “Who’s Who among American High School Teachers” and "Who's Who among American Women". In 1998, she was chosen Athletic Training Distinguished Alumni of the Year by Texas State University.
Cathy has been married to husband Ray for twenty-one years. Together they have two children, Amanda and Cameron.

Josh is the Head Athletic Trainer at Bryan High School. He has worked in Bryan ISD for 5 years as both the Assistant and Head Athletic Trainer. He attended Sam Houston State University where he received a degree in Kinesiology. Josh is married to Jamie Woodall who is also an athletic trainer, working in Bryan ISD.

Ed Mizicko

Ed is a graduate of Mathews High School, Vienna Ohio. He earned a B.S. in Health from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio in 1980 and a M.A. in Athletic Training Specialization from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1981.
He became Certified as an Athletic Trainer in 1981 and began his career as Athletic Trainer at Comstock High School, Comstock Michigan and then the following year at Athens High School, The Plains, Ohio. He then moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1982; he was licensed and became Head Athletic Trainer at John Jay High School where he established the first high school athletic training curriculum in 1989 and has been there since.
He became involved in the Alamo Area Athletic Trainers Association and initially served as the founding head of the Scholarship Committee that established what is now known as the Charles Cortez Memorial Scholarship which is awarded annually. He has since served in all offices of the AAATA; serving as President in 1990 and 1991. He was a member of the SWATA Honors and Awards Committee from 1992-2005; SWATA South Texas Rep to the NATA Research and Education Committee 1996-2000; NATA Honors and Awards Honorary Committee 2000-2005. He was also fortunate to be named as South All-Star Basketball Athletic Trainer by the THSCA in 2002.
He is married to Martha Elizabeth; has one step-son Mark and wife Amy; and one grand-daughter Megan Alise.

Lee H. Knox

Lee is the Head Athletic Trainer at Corpus Christi ISD, and has been in the Corpus Christi area for 21 years. A 26 year member of the NATA, Lee has been a certified athletic trainer for 23 years and a Texas licensed athletic trainer for 22 years. Lee is a former member of the Secondary School Athletic Trainers Committee for SWATA.
