Proposed TSATA By Law Changes 5-22-08

Change Article III Section 3.4

FROM:

All dues become payable on July 1 for the calendar year. Dues are considered delinquent if not received by October 1 of the same calendar year. Reminder notices will be sent to the TSATA member with delinquent fees on October 1. Membership dues that remain delinquent through December of the same calendar year will be suspended.

TO:

All dues become payable on January 1 for the calendar year. Dues are considered delinquent if not received by March 15 of the same calendar year. Membership dues that remain delinquent will constitute suspension in the association.

 

Rationale: Will make book keeping more in line with proper accounting practices.

Change Article II section 2.1

FROM:

The Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association will be a voluntary membership that consists of four (4) classes.

TO: The Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association will be a voluntary membership that consist of two (2) classes.

 

Rational: To reduce the complexity of membership and due collection.

 

Change Article II section 2.2

FROM:

Classes of membership:

  1. Licensed Athletic Trainer-in good standing with the Texas Department of Health Licensure Division.
  2. Retired Licensed Athletic Trainer-those who have retired from active practice of athletic training.
  3. Honorary Membership-physicians, educators.
  4. Associate Membership-corporations, organizations, or an allied health profession that supports the profession of athletic training.
  5. Student membership-enrolled in a college athletic training student program within the State of Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer-in good standing with the Texas Department of Health Licensure Division.

 

To:

  1. Licensed Athletic Trainer-in good standing with the Texas Department of State Health Services, Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers.
  2. Non-Licensed Members

 

Change Article II Section 2.5

FROM:

Rights and Duties:

  1. Licensed Athletic Trainer members may attend, vote, take part in discussions, and hold office in TSATA.
  2. Retired members may attend, vote, and take part in discussions regarding TSATA.
  3. Honorary members may attend meetings and take part in discussions regarding TSATA.
  4. Associate members may attend meetings and take part in discussions regarding TSATA.
  5. Student members may attend meetings and take part in discussions regarding TSATA.

TO:

Rights and Duties

  1. Licensed Athletic Trainer members may attend, vote, take part in discussions, and hold office in TSATA.
  2. Non Licensed members may attend meetings. They will not have discussion or voting privileges.

 

Rationale: Streamlining TSATA structure for the millennium

 

Change Article 3.2

From:

Dues shall be paid by all members of the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association with the exception of honorary and student members.

TO:

Dues shall be paid by both Licensed and Non-Licensed members of the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association.

 

Delete Article 3.3

This states:

Retired members of the Texas State Athletic Trainers Association will pay a reduced dues’ rate set by the Board of Directors.

 

Rationale: Continued streamlining TSATA structure and collection for the millennium.

 

Change Article VIII Section 8.3

FROM:

The Vice Chair will submit all nominations to an independent party to conduct a mail vote. The ballots will be distributed and tabulated by the independent party. Tabulation may not occur in less than four (4) weeks of the postmark date of the ballot.

TO:

The Vice Chair will verify and keep all annual submitted regional election nominees and nominations.

He will be responsible for the mailing out to the membership (using the Secretary-Treasures rolls) ballots for the upcoming regional elections. The voting for regional directors will be sent to an independent party for tabulation. Tabulation may not occur in less than four (4) weeks of the postmark date of the ballot.

Rational:

Due to rising cost in postage and becoming more cost efficient, it is necessary for the organization to go to electronic computation and the usage of less traditional methods of voting to a more modern approach in a secure electronic voting network.
